Destroyed My Vent Trim
I installed this on my vent trim as directed, except didn't peel the sticker off the adhesive. It was more of a dry fit test run. Then I left it on my car that was parked in the garage for a few weeks. Cool environment, never hot (~60-65 degrees F). When I came back to check out how it had held up without any phone on it or heat applied, I found it had squashed the vent trim together, pushed the dash rubber up, and left a mark on the plastic surround for the head unit. I tried to push the vent trim back into place and the dash rubber back down, but it had done permanent damage. I had to take it into Subaru to get my vent trim and entire dash replaced, luckily under warranty.
Is there a better way to do this? Perhaps with less clamping force? I like the location of the mount better than anywhere else, but I can't have irreparable damage done to my car.
